A wonderful place ... a place where rock, blues and jazz meet and mingle in riffs that melt and wash over me life a Spring rain. Eric Clapton is arguably one of the top two living guitarists alongside B.B.King. He has always been one of my favorites, but lately ... mmmmmm ... hard to express the sweetness of his stuff to me. It is so "hot" and yet ... it puts a smile on my face. I especially enjoy the acoustic or "unplugged" versions of his classics. This is by no means, a biographical account, but rather just a fan, saying so.
Well known songs, like Tears in Heaven, that shared Clapton's grief at the accidental death of his 4 yr old son, and the romantic epics, Wonderful Tonight and Layla, of course every guitarists challenge, his rendition of Classical Gas (originally by Mason Williams). He continues actively making music and guest appearances. If you enjoy his music, you probably already know the various bands and accomplished soloists he worked with, so I won't talk about those here. If you want to read more, you can click on his name above or google him. I'm listening to Eric Clapton Unplugged as I type this, and wishing I had been at the Bob Dylan concert in Columbus Ohio, 13 Aug, when Jimmie Vaughn intoduced a "special guest" and brought out Eric Clapton! mmmmm Maybe one day!
Like the rest of us, Clapton has seen his share of tragedy and hardship, but currently seems to have gotten his life together and is now helping others via his Crossroads Centre at Antigua, a drug and alcohol rehab. Talent always seems to have a cost, hmmm?
Any other Clapton fans out there??? Where's Eric?
