So ... all of a sudden, it's Fall here in Pittsburgh. Up until yesterday, we were enjoying an extended summer with temps in the 80's. I awoke this morning to put dear April out, and lo and behold, a yard covered in fallen leaves! I love this season! The air has a fresh fragrance mingled with smoke from wood stoves or burning leaves and a sweet, almost fruitiness. And then, of course, there are the colors! The reds, yellows, golds and browns ... so rich, so vibrant.
Along with the leaves, my yard is blanketed with acorns. I know they draw the squirrels, but what I didn't know I learned the other night. Friday night, as I returned from my last night as a pizza delievery driver, I was welcomed by 6 or 7 young deer. They crossed the street right in front of me into my yard! They were so beautiful! A neighbor must have also seen them because the following day, he asked me if he could put up a camera in my back yard to take pics of the deer. I gave him permission on the condition that I get a few good shots which I will post here!
