one of many firsts at camp last year!

I figured I might try to give you all a little more details about this great camp.

Summer's Best 2 Weeks was the vision of one man ... Jim Welch, an ordained minister, but more inspirational in his love and life than in word. In 1968, the prototype began as a day camp at that time affiliated with a local congregation. It has now, 35+ years later, evolved into a magnificient experience for hundreds of kids.

Summer's Best Two Weeks is a privately owned Christian Camp with a format of competitive athletics, recreational activities, and wilderness experiences. It is not affiliated with a specific Church or denomination but is an affiliated member of Christian Camping International.
SB2W is a residential athletic and outdoor adventure camp committed to communicating the Gospel to students ages 8-18. Campers come for two weeks at a time to experience team athletics, community living, wilderness trips, creative programming and Bible study with college students who model Christ to them and encourage them to live their lives with the "I’m Third" (God first, others second, I’m third) motto as their guide.

At SB2W we desire for campers to begin an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ and to commit to living transformed lives. Our hope is to connect campers with mature believers who will foster their spiritual and personal growth through their two-week stay in a dynamic Christian community.

Jim and Nancy Welch

Jim is the Founder of SB2W and serves as Chairman of the Board. Nancy serves as office manager. Jim is a graduate of Oklahoma University and received his MDiv from Princeton Theological Seminary. Nancy is a graduate of Slippery Rock University and received her MA from Ohio University. They were married in 1981 and have a son, Kyle.

I enjoyed 6 summers at this camp, serving as director of water sports & music.  I can't help but enjoy the many, many wonderful memories even while phsbum makes her own memories.  Jim is one of the heros in my life ... one who has seen his dream come true with outstanding results & blessing.
